Battlement Mesa/Parachute

Located midway between Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction on highway I-70 this laid back community offers quiet surroundings, hiking, golf, tennis, biking and convenience to the larger cities.  Battlement Mesa is part of what is know as Western Garfield County which is made up five communities – New Castle, Silt, Rifle, Parachute, and Battlement Mesa.  Land is abundant and offers limitless opportunities to enjoy being outside. 

New technology which looks at ways to take advantage of oil shale as a natural resource is currently being researched here.  The natural gas industry is going strong here also.  However, restoration and preservation of the original communities of Battlement Mesa and Parachute still exists also.  The Grand Valley Historical Society has just complete a renovation of the historic school building, dubbed the “Queen of the Mesa”.
